Venture fund investing seems shrouded in mystery, lurking behind veils of numbers, formulas, and industry specific jargon like ‘series seed’, and ‘GP catchup’ (not a condiment), and ‘power-law distribution’. It is perhaps this aura of opacity that prevents the investor from including venture in his portfolio. But the asset class has, despite general sentiment, impressive and consistent returns while also showing resilience to market shock and relative uncorrelation with other assets.
